Giant granadilla

Giant granadilla (Passiflora quadrangularis L.) is a vigorous climbing vine belonging to the Passifloraceae family. It is recognized as one of the largest species within the genus Passiflora and is commercially valued for producing the heaviest fruits among all passion fruit varieties.

The plant originates from the tropical regions of the Americas, specifically throughout the Amazon basin. It is widely cultivated across tropical zones in Asia, Africa, and parts of the Caribbean, where favorable climatic conditions allow it to express its full genetic potential in terms of vegetative growth and fruit production.

From a botanical standpoint, the species is distinguished by its characteristic square-shaped stems, which provide structural support for the rapidly expanding vine.
