Pink lapacho

Handroanthus heptaphyllus, commonly known as pink lapacho, is a valuable tree species belonging to the Bignoniaceae family. Often referred to by the synonym Tabebuia ipe, this deciduous tree can grow up to 35 meters tall in its native habitat, developing a robust trunk and a wide, spreading canopy.

Native to the tropical regions of South America, including Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay, this species is prevalent in the Atlantic Forest and the Paraná River basin. It thrives in warm tropical and subtropical climates characterized by distinct wet and dry seasons, which dictate its cycles of growth and spectacular flowering.

At the end of the dry season, the tree sheds its foliage and becomes covered in vibrant pink or purple funnel-shaped flowers, creating a dramatic visual impact.
