The English whitebeam (Hedlundia anglica) is a distinctive species of small to medium-sized tree belonging to the Rosaceae family. Native to the British Isles, specifically recognized as a rare endemic species, it evolved through natural hybridization. This makes the plant biologically significant and highly adapted to specific limestone-rich environments.

In terms of habitat, the species prefers rocky outcrops and slopes in southwest England and parts of Wales. It typically grows to a height of 5 to 10 meters, maintaining a balanced and rounded habit. The English whitebeam is often valued by arborists for its structural integrity and its ability to withstand the harsh coastal winds characteristic of its native range.
