Hemipilia cucullata (syn. Neottianthe cucullata) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Orchidaceae family. Known for its distinct floral structure, it is considered a specialized species in horticultural and botanical circles, valued for its elegance and specific ecological niche requirements.

The native distribution of this plant spans across Eurasia, including regions of Eastern Europe, Siberia, and East Asia. It naturally thrives in coniferous and mixed forests, often integrated into mossy undergrowth. Its environmental preference is for areas with filtered sunlight and high humidity, which are characteristic of boreal and mountain forest ecosystems.

Botanically, the plant is characterized by a pair of ovoid-shaped root tubers. It typically grows to a height of 15–30 centimeters. For successful establishment, it requires a well-drained, slightly acidic substrate that mimics forest floor conditions.
