Hybrid Pericallis is an ornamental plant species resulting from the cross-breeding of Pericallis cruenta and Pericallis lanata. Belonging to the Asteraceae family, these hybrids are highly valued for their vibrant, daisy-like flower heads and lush foliage. While often referred to by the trade name Cineraria in horticultural circles, they form a distinct group of hybrids widely cultivated for their visual appeal.

The native ancestors of this plant are indigenous to the Canary Islands, where they thrive in temperate maritime climates. Today, Hybrid Pericallis is cultivated globally, primarily as a potted crop or annual bedding plant in cooler regions. Its production is centered in professional greenhouse facilities designed to manage flowering schedules for spring sales.

Morphologically, the plant is characterized by its broad, heart-shaped leaves and corymbose inflorescences. The flowers display a remarkable range of pigments, including intense blues, violets, pinks, and whites, often featuring a distinct white center or eye. The plant generally reaches a height of 20 to 50 centimeters, depending on the specific cultivar and growing conditions.

Successful cultivation requires specific environmental parameters, most notably cool temperatures; temperatures exceeding 20 degrees Celsius often inhibit bud formation and lead to plant stress. The soil should be porous and rich in organic matter to ensure adequate moisture retention without waterlogging.
