Climbing hydrangea (Hydrangea petiolaris) is a vigorous deciduous woody vine that belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. Unlike most hydrangea species which are shrubs, this variety is characterized by its ability to climb vertical surfaces using aerial rootlets, allowing it to scale walls, fences, and mature trees to significant heights.
The plant is native to the woodlands of East Asia, including Japan, Korea, and parts of the Russian Far East.
