Originating from the tropical regions of Mexico and Central America, the plant naturally grows as a ground cover in forest habitats. It is highly resilient and thrives in environments where its stems can easily root at the nodes, allowing it to spread effectively across moist, shaded ground.
Botanically, it is classified as a herbaceous succulent with trailing stems and lance-shaped leaves.
