Native primarily to Europe and parts of North Africa and Western Asia, this plant is characterized by its adaptability to nutrient-poor soils. Its distribution is strictly tied to wetlands, where it occupies shallow, sparsely vegetated areas that offer the necessary sunlight for rapid germination and growth during the summer season.
