Botanically, these plants are defined by their small to medium-sized bulbs and succulent, lance-shaped leaves, which are often attractively speckled or mottled. The flower stems emerge in winter or early spring, carrying dense clusters of pendulous, waxy flowers. The color range is extensive, encompassing brilliant yellows, oranges, reds, and even distinct shades of blue and purple, making them a premium choice for collectors.
Cultivation of Lachenalia hybrids requires careful attention to their natural cycle. They thrive in mild, Mediterranean-like climates where temperatures range between 12°C and 18°C during the growing season.
