Lepista sordida, commonly known as the sordid blewit, belongs to the Tricholomataceae family. It is a highly valued saprotrophic mushroom recognized for its adaptability in decomposition processes, which makes it a subject of interest in commercial mycology.
Originating from the temperate regions of the Northern Hemisphere, this species is widely distributed. It naturally thrives in nutrient-rich environments such as pastures, gardens, and urban green spaces, where it effectively degrades organic matter through its mycelial network.
