It is a prized specimen for alpine gardens and rockeries, reflecting its natural high-altitude habitat.

Botanically, the plant develops a sturdy stem reaching heights between 40 and 80 centimeters. The leaves are linear to lanceolate, arranged spirally along the stem. The flowers are typically turkscap-shaped, with petals that reflex strongly, displaying shades of yellow-orange to deep brick-red, often accented with small dark spots. Flowering generally occurs in early to mid-summer, providing a striking visual display.

Successful cultivation requires environmental conditions that mimic its wild habitat. The plant thrives in well-drained, porous soils with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Drainage is a critical factor, as stagnant water is fatal to the bulbs. It prefers sunny locations but benefits from light shade at the base, which keeps the root zone cool and prevents excessive drying during the heat of the season.

Agricultural practices for this lily focus on minimal intervention once established. Consistent moisture during the growing season is necessary, but the soil should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings. Fertilization with a balanced, low-nitrogen compound is recommended in the early spring.
