Water primrose (Ludwigia hyssopifolia) is an annual herbaceous plant belonging to the Onagraceae family. In the field of agronomy, it is widely recognized as a significant weed that colonizes irrigation channels and paddy fields, where it competes aggressively with crops for essential nutrients and sunlight.
Originating from the tropical regions of the Americas, this species has successfully colonized diverse tropical environments across Asia, Africa, and Australia. Its habitat preference includes waterlogged soils, marshes, and rice paddies, where the plant thrives due to its unique physiological ability to endure prolonged flooding and low-oxygen soil conditions.
