This ornamental and agricultural hybrid was developed by George Russell through extensive cross-breeding of several American lupin species. It is widely recognized for its impressive height, vibrant flower spikes, and significant nitrogen-fixing capabilities, which benefit soil health.
Originally derived from species native to North America, Russell lupins are now cultivated globally in various temperate climates. They are particularly popular in regions with cool to moderate summers.
