Mimusops elengi is a prominent evergreen tree species belonging to the Sapotaceae family. Known globally by various names such as Spanish cherry or Bullet wood, it is highly valued for its fragrant flowers, medicinal properties, and durable, high-quality timber.
The native distribution of this species covers the tropical regions of Southern and Southeastern Asia, including India and the Malay Peninsula. It thrives in diverse tropical climates and has been successfully introduced to various subtropical regions worldwide where frost is absent.
