The tree typically ranges from 3 to 8 meters in height, exhibiting a dense, rounded crown with pinnately compound leaves.
The native distribution of this species spans across Southeast Asia, including parts of Indonesia and the Philippines, extending to northern Australia and various Pacific islands. It thrives in humid tropical and subtropical environments, frequently occupying forest margins and secondary growth areas where the soil remains consistently moist and nutrient-rich.
Botanically, the species is characterized by its small, yellowish-white flowers arranged in terminal or axillary corymbs, which eventually develop into bright red or orange berries.
