Shore forget-me-not (lat. Myosotis litoralis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Boraginaceae family. This species is highly valued in horticulture for its remarkable adaptation to wetland environments, making it an ideal candidate for waterside planting and marsh gardens.

The plant originates from the temperate zones of Eurasia, typically found in natural habitats such as riverbanks, lake shores, and damp meadows. Its cultivation range has expanded globally as designers seek to naturalize edges of artificial ponds and irrigation channels using plants that thrive in high-moisture conditions.

Botanically, the plant exhibits a robust structure with soft, pubescent stems and alternate, lanceolate leaves. The inflorescences are characteristic cymes featuring small, sky-blue flowers. The root system is specifically developed to function effectively in waterlogged soils where aeration is significantly limited compared to traditional garden soil.

Agronomic requirements center on consistent moisture management. Myosotis litoralis prefers rich, organic-heavy soils with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. It performs best in partial shade, as prolonged exposure to intense, direct sunlight can lead to leaf scorching, especially if the root system is not kept consistently wet.

The primary economic and aesthetic use is the naturalistic stabilization of pond edges and the creation of biodiversity-friendly garden zones. Regarding plant health, the species is susceptible to fungal infections like powdery mildew in areas with poor air circulation.
