It primarily grows as an epiphyte in humid mountain environments, often found at elevations ranging from lowlands to approximately 1000 meters above sea level.

Botanically, this orchid is characterized by its large, ovoid pseudobulbs that support broad, plicate foliage. The inflorescence arises from the base of the maturing pseudobulbs, producing a long spike adorned with multiple fragrant, waxy flowers. The color palette is striking, typically featuring a blend of yellow, cream, and deep mahogany-red markings, making it a highly prized specimen for orchid enthusiasts.

Cultivation requires replicating a tropical climate with high humidity levels and excellent air circulation. The ideal temperature range is moderate, with daytime temperatures between 22°C and 26°C and cooler nights around 16°C to 18°C. Given its epiphytic nature, it is best grown in well-draining substrate mixes consisting of bark, sphagnum moss, and perlite, which prevent root rot while retaining sufficient moisture.

Proper agronomic management involves regular, consistent watering during the active growing season, followed by a necessary dry-rest period to initiate flowering. Fertilization should be kept light using balanced, weak orchid-specific solutions.
