This plant is highly valued for its dense concentration of unique ginsenosides and saponins found primarily in its roots, which are used to support cardiovascular health and improve overall vitality.

The native distribution of this crop is concentrated in the mountainous areas of Southwest China, specifically within the provinces of Yunnan and Guangxi.
