Instead, it derives all necessary nutrients, water, and minerals directly from the roots of its host plants, to which it attaches itself via specialized structures.
The native range of this species is primarily focused on the Balkan Peninsula and parts of Southeastern Europe. It typically thrives in arid, rocky environments and open landscapes where its specific host species, often belonging to the Asteraceae family, are present.
