Pandanus sanderi, commonly known as a type of screw pine, is a tropical evergreen plant belonging to the Pandanaceae family. It is highly valued for its striking, long sword-like leaves that feature vibrant yellow or white longitudinal stripes, making it a prominent ornamental selection for interior landscaping.

The plant originates from the lush tropical rainforests of the Malay Archipelago. In its native habitat, it grows in humid environments, often developing specialized aerial roots that provide stability and nutrient absorption. These adaptations allow the plant to thrive in moist soils, provided that the growing medium remains well-draining.

Botanically, Pandanus sanderi is characterized by its distinct spiral leaf arrangement, from which the name screw pine is derived. The leaves are typically stiff with serrated, thorny margins. While the plant can grow quite large in its natural environment, indoor cultivars are typically maintained as container plants to control their growth habit.

Successful cultivation requires a climate mimicking tropical conditions. It thrives in warm temperatures ranging from +20°C to +26°C and requires high ambient humidity.
