Botanical characteristics of the species include a basal rosette of coriaceous leaves, which feature a distinct mottled pattern of dark green and silvery-grey spots. The floral scape usually supports a single, large flower characterized by a prominent pouch-like lip, which serves as a trap for pollinators, along with elongated petals often decorated with fine hairs along the margins.

For successful agricultural management in controlled environments, it is essential to maintain a stable, moderately warm climate with daytime temperatures around +20–24°C, complemented by a necessary drop in nighttime temperatures.
