Woundwort

The Phlomis herba-venti L., commonly known as woundwort, belongs to the Lamiaceae family. It is a robust perennial plant recognized for its resilience and adaptability in semi-arid environments. In agricultural contexts, it is emerging as a valuable crop due to its potential in medicinal, ornamental, and ecological applications.

The plant originates from the Mediterranean basin and extends throughout the Caucasus and parts of Southern Europe. Its natural habitat includes rocky slopes and dry grasslands, indicating an evolutionary adaptation to environments where water availability is inconsistent and soil quality is often poor or rocky.
