Qinghai spruce (Latin: Picea crassifolia) is a significant coniferous tree species belonging to the Pinaceae family. It is highly valued for its ecological resilience and plays a crucial role in mountainous ecosystems, where it contributes to soil stabilization and water retention in high-altitude regions.

The native habitat of this species is confined to the mountainous regions of northwestern China, specifically provinces such as Gansu and Qinghai. It thrives at elevations ranging from 2,000 to 3,800 meters, typically occupying northern slopes where soil moisture remains consistent throughout the growing season.

Botanically, the species is distinguished by its pyramidal crown and stiff, thick-cuticled, dark green needles. This specific morphology is an evolutionary adaptation to intense solar radiation and frequent temperature fluctuations common at high altitudes. The trees are capable of reaching considerable heights, often growing up to 25 meters under favorable conditions.

Cultivation requirements necessitate well-drained, nutrient-rich soils that prevent moisture stagnation.
