Picris hispanica is an herbaceous species belonging to the Asteraceae family. While frequently encountered in the wild, its biological characteristics make it a subject of interest for agronomists studying drought-resistant plants capable of thriving in challenging environmental conditions where typical forage crops might fail.

Originating from the Mediterranean region, particularly the Iberian Peninsula, the plant has adapted to arid and semi-arid climates.
