The natural range of this culture is restricted to the mountainous regions of southwestern Texas and northeastern Mexico, specifically within the states of Coahuila and Nuevo Leon. It typically grows on limestone outcrops and rocky slopes, which are characterized by high pH levels and extremely fast drainage, dictating the tree's niche as an adapted survivor.
