Celebes pepper, scientifically known as Piper ornatum, is an ornamental climbing vine belonging to the Piperaceae family. Highly prized by plant enthusiasts for its stunning foliage, this species is distinct from the culinary black pepper plant. Its leaves feature a unique pattern of silvery-pink markings over a deep emerald-green surface, making it a standout decorative crop.

The species originates from the tropical rainforests of Indonesia, specifically native to the island of Sulawesi. In its natural habitat, it thrives in the humid understory, utilizing tall trees for vertical support. Because of its tropical origins, successful cultivation depends on replicating these warm, high-humidity, and filtered-light conditions throughout the growing season.
