This species is native to the Americas, ranging from the southeastern United States through the Caribbean and down to parts of South America and Africa. As an epiphyte, it commonly grows on tree branches, particularly on oaks, though it can occasionally be found on rocks, demonstrating its versatility as a lithophyte in specialized habitats.
