Cultivation practices include regular but controlled irrigation: it is crucial to prevent waterlogging, as the roots are susceptible to decay in saturated soil. The commercial and practical use of these plants is primarily directed towards ornamental horticulture. Because they tolerate pruning exceptionally well, Podocarpus hybrids are ideal for creating topiary shapes and formal hedges.
