Slender knotweed (scientifically known as Polygonum filiforme or Persicaria filiformis) is an ornamental perennial plant belonging to the Polygonaceae family. The plant originates from the forest regions of East Asia, primarily Japan and China. In its natural habitat, it thrives in damp, shaded environments, often found under forest canopies.
