Chung's Primrose (Primula chungensis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Primulaceae family. It is widely recognized for its characteristic candelabra growth habit, where vibrant, whorled flowers are arranged in tiered layers along a tall, upright stem, providing a striking visual effect in any garden setting.
The plant is native to the mountainous regions of China, specifically within the Yunnan province. Its natural habitat includes damp meadows, stream banks, and shaded forest slopes. These environmental preferences dictate its success in cultivation, as it thrives best in cool, moisture-retentive areas that mimic its ancestral highland home.
Botanically, the plant develops a rosette of lanceolate, serrated leaves from which emerge sturdy scapes reaching up to 50–70 cm in height.
