Emory oak (Quercus emoryi) is a distinctive evergreen tree species belonging to the Fagaceae family. Known for its persistent, leathery foliage, this tree plays a vital role in the xerophytic ecosystems of the Southwestern United States and Northern Mexico, maintaining its green canopy throughout the year.
The native habitat of this oak spans high-elevation grasslands and rocky mountain slopes. In an agricultural or horticultural context, it is cultivated primarily in arid or semi-arid climates where its extreme drought tolerance allows it to thrive with minimal water inputs compared to more mesic tree species.
Botanically, the Emory oak grows as a medium-sized tree, typically reaching heights between 10 and 15 meters.
