The origin and natural range of this species are primarily associated with high-altitude environments, particularly within the Ural mountain range. It typically thrives in subalpine meadow ecosystems where moisture levels are consistent and there is a high diversity of potential host plants to support its nutritional requirements.
Botanically, the plant is characterized by an erect stem, opposite leaves, and yellow, bilaterally symmetrical flowers.
