Rhipsalidopsis rosea, commonly known as the Rose Easter Cactus, is a species of epiphytic plant belonging to the Cactaceae family. Often reclassified within the genus Hatiora, this plant is native to the tropical forests of Brazil. Unlike desert cacti, it naturally grows as an epiphyte on trees, thriving in environments with dappled light and high atmospheric humidity.

The botanical structure of the plant consists of flattened, segmented stems that are highly specialized for water retention. Each segment is typically small with slightly notched edges. The primary agricultural appeal of the plant lies in its profuse spring bloom, characterized by delicate pink, star-shaped flowers that emerge from the terminal areoles of the stems.

Regarding climate requirements, the plant prefers temperate conditions and is highly sensitive to extreme heat and cold. It requires a growing medium that is exceptionally well-draining, such as a mix of peat moss, perlite, and bark, to simulate its natural epiphytic habitat. Maintenance includes regular moisture, but the substrate must never become waterlogged to avoid root rot.

Agricultural management of this culture focuses on maximizing bloom density through temperature manipulation. During the winter months, the plant undergoes a dormant phase. By reducing water and maintaining cooler night temperatures, growers trigger the physiological processes necessary for the development of flower buds. This cyclical approach is critical for commercial success in pot plant production.

Common pests include mealybugs and spider mites, which can thrive if the humidity levels are too low. Root pathogens are the most frequent health issues in large-scale production, usually stemming from over-irrigation.
