Rhodanthemum (Rhodanthemum hybrids) is a genus of perennial flowering plants belonging to the Asteraceae family. These hybrids are highly valued by horticulturists for their distinctive silvery, fern-like foliage and charming daisy-like flowers, which bring a Mediterranean aesthetic to sunny gardens and rocky landscapes.

The plant originates from the high-altitude, rocky regions of North Africa, primarily Morocco and Algeria. This natural heritage dictates its physiological requirements, as the plant is specifically adapted to thrive in harsh, sun-drenched, and well-drained environments, making it an excellent candidate for xeriscaping.

Botanically, these hybrids typically grow as low-mounded perennials, rarely exceeding 30 centimeters in height. The leaves are deeply lobed and covered in fine hairs, giving them a silvery-grey appearance that persists throughout the growing season. The flower heads consist of a central yellow disc surrounded by petals that range from pure white to soft pink, offering a long blooming period.

Cultivation success depends entirely on mimicry of their native environment. They require full sun exposure and gritty, poor-quality soil with excellent drainage. Heavy, nutrient-rich soils that retain moisture are detrimental, often leading to crown rot or root fungus, which are the primary failure points for gardeners attempting to grow this species.
