Milk rhododendron (Rhododendron lacteum) is a distinguished evergreen shrub or small tree belonging to the Ericaceae family. The plant originates from the high-altitude mountain regions of Southwest China, specifically Yunnan. Growing naturally at elevations between 3,000 and 4,000 meters, it has evolved to thrive in cool, misty environments with high atmospheric humidity, which are essential factors to consider when introducing this species to new growing zones.

Botanically, this shrub can grow up to 5 meters in height. It features leathery, elliptical leaves with a distinct indumentum (hair-like covering) on the underside.
