Dwarf Rhodothamnus

Dwarf Rhodothamnus (Rhodothamnus chamaecistus) is a unique low-growing shrub belonging to the Ericaceae family. Although it shares certain morphological traits with rhododendrons, this species stands out as a distinct, specialized plant that is highly prized by alpine garden enthusiasts.

Native to the limestone mountains of the Eastern Alps, this plant is naturally adapted to high-altitude environments. Its distribution is limited to rocky, calcareous slopes, which dictates the specific requirements needed for its successful cultivation in a domestic garden setting.
