Painted Tongue

Painted Tongue (Salpiglossis integrifolia) is an exquisite annual flowering plant belonging to the Solanaceae family. It is highly esteemed in horticulture for its vibrant, trumpet-shaped blooms, which are distinctively marked with intricate, vein-like patterns, resembling velvet or delicate marble.

Native to the mountainous regions of Chile and Peru, the plant thrives in conditions that mimic its natural cool but sunny environment. The plant is particularly sensitive to soil moisture levels; it demands consistent watering but is extremely susceptible to root rot if the growing medium remains waterlogged for extended periods. Protection from strong winds is also recommended to prevent stem breakage.
