Its ability to survive in thin, stony ground makes it a highly resilient agricultural and ornamental crop.

Botanically, this species is characterized by compact, rosette-forming fleshy leaves designed for water retention. During the growing season, it produces inflorescences on stalks with star-shaped flowers that attract pollinators. Like other members of the genus, it follows a monocarpic life cycle, where the mother rosette dies after flowering, ensuring the survival of the plant through the development of offsets.
