Italian catchfly (Latin Silene italica) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Caryophyllaceae family. The plant originates from the Mediterranean basin and Southern Europe, where it naturally inhabits dry grasslands, stony slopes, and scrublands. Botanically, Silene italica is characterized by a basal rosette of lanceolate leaves and a series of erect, slender stems that can reach up to 60 centimeters in height.
