The Siberian campion (lat. Silene sibirica) is a herbaceous perennial plant that belongs to the Caryophyllaceae family. As a hardy species, it has evolved to thrive in rigorous environmental conditions, making it a significant component of the grassland and steppe vegetation in its native regions of Siberia and Central Asia.
The plant originates from the Eurasian continent, where it is found in diverse habitats, ranging from rocky slopes to open, well-drained steppes. It is highly adapted to continental climates, characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations throughout the year, which necessitates a strong physiological resilience to both frost and summer heat.
Botanically, this species is defined by its erect stems and simple, lanceolate leaves.
