London rocket

London rocket (Sisymbrium irio) is an annual or biennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family. While frequently viewed as a weed, it is of increasing interest in research due to the oil content of its seeds and its resilience in arid environments.

The plant originates from the Mediterranean and North Africa but has successfully established itself globally, particularly in temperate and subtropical zones. It is commonly found in disturbed soils, roadsides, and cultivated fields, displaying a remarkable ability to survive in diverse environmental conditions.

Botanically, it features a slender, branched stem that can reach heights of nearly one meter. Its leaves are deeply lobed, and the plant produces clusters of small, pale yellow flowers.
