The species originates from the semi-arid regions of South Africa, specifically the Cape Province. Its natural habitat consists of rocky outcrops and sandy plains where precipitation is sparse and unpredictable. This native environment has shaped the plant’s physiology, making it highly dependent on well-drained conditions to survive.
Botanically, the plant is characterized by its succulent, opposite leaves that are often fused at the base.
