Laurel-leaf greenbrier (lat. Smilax laurifolia) is a perennial, evergreen woody vine belonging to the Smilacaceae family. It is recognized for its significant climbing ability, utilizing specialized tendrils to ascend forest canopies or support structures, forming dense and tangled thickets in its natural habitat.

The native range of this species is primarily the southeastern United States, extending from New Jersey to Florida and westward to Texas. It typically thrives in coastal plain ecosystems, including pine flatwoods, wet savannas, and swampy riparian zones where soil moisture remains consistently high throughout the growing season.

Botanically, the plant is characterized by its thick, leathery, and narrow evergreen leaves that resemble those of a laurel.
