Soehrensia huascha is a perennial succulent plant belonging to the Cactaceae family. Previously classified under the genus Trichocereus, it is now taxonomically placed within Soehrensia. This plant is widely recognized in horticultural circles for its spectacular, large, and vibrantly colored flowers, which bloom in shades ranging from deep red to bright yellow, making it a prized specimen for collectors.
The native distribution of this species is primarily centered in the arid regions of northwestern Argentina, specifically in provinces like Catamarca and La Rioja. It typically thrives in rocky, high-altitude landscapes where it is exposed to significant temperature fluctuations and intense sunlight. When cultivated, the plant performs best when these environmental stressors are somewhat replicated, particularly the need for abundant light.
