Blume spirea

Blume spirea (Spiraea blumei) is a perennial ornamental shrub belonging to the Rosaceae family. It is highly valued for its elegant, arching branches and profuse flowering, which covers the plant in white clusters during late spring and early summer. As a mature shrub, it typically reaches a height of 1.5 to 2 meters, making it a versatile choice for diverse gardening styles.

The plant originates from East Asia, specifically regions within Japan and the Korean Peninsula. It is well-adapted to temperate climates and has become a staple in gardens worldwide due to its hardiness and adaptability. In its natural habitat, it often grows on slopes and forest margins, which indicates a preference for well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soils.

Botanically, the plant features alternate, simple leaves with distinctive serrated margins. The flowers are arranged in umbel-like inflorescences that bloom on the previous year's wood. The root system is fibrous and dense, which helps the shrub establish itself quickly in various soil types, provided there is adequate moisture and nutrient availability.
