The Staghorn fern, scientifically known as Platycerium superbum, is a remarkable member of the Polypodiaceae family. As an epiphyte, it naturally grows on the bark of trees in its native habitats, playing an essential role in the forest ecosystem by trapping organic debris.

Cultivation requires mounting the plant on wood slabs or specialized baskets filled with a light, airy substrate like sphagnum moss or shredded bark. It is crucial to maintain high relative humidity and avoid overwatering, as the roots are prone to rotting in stagnant water.
