Staudtia kamerunensis is a significant evergreen tree belonging to the family Myristicaceae. Known as a vital component of the lowland tropical rainforests in Central and Western Africa, this species serves as both an ecological pillar and a source of high-quality timber, often recognized in the global market under the trade name Niove.

The native range of this species is confined to the tropical belt of Africa, including countries such as Cameroon, Gabon, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. These trees thrive in deep, humid, and well-drained soils typical of equatorial zones, where consistent precipitation and high temperatures support the development of large, dense-wooded specimens.

Botanically, the tree exhibits a robust structure, reaching heights up to 40 meters. It features leathery, elliptical leaves and small, inconspicuous flowers. The fruit is a fleshy follicle containing seeds that are critical for dispersal. Due to its slow-growing nature, the species requires specific microclimates provided by intact primary or secondary forests to reach maturity successfully.

Agrotechnical management of Staudtia kamerunensis is currently focused on sustainable silviculture rather than plantation farming.
