Aktau feather grass (Stipa aktauensis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Poaceae family. It is a highly specialized xerophytic species known for its remarkable ability to thrive in arid and semi-arid environments where other crops often fail.

The plant originates from the vast steppe regions of Central Asia. Its natural distribution is primarily centered in areas with continental climates, characterized by extreme temperature fluctuations and limited annual precipitation, where it serves as a keystone species for local ecosystems.
