Baikal feather grass (Stipa baicalensis) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Poaceae family. This species is a significant component of steppe ecosystems, known for its extreme resilience to the harsh environmental conditions characteristic of high-latitude or continental climate zones.
The native range of this grass covers Eastern Siberia, Transbaikalia, Mongolia, and northern regions of China. It has evolved to thrive in areas with low annual precipitation, severe winters, and short, intensive growing seasons. This makes it a crucial subject for research in agronomy regarding the development of forage crops for arid environments.
