Desert needlegrass (lat. Stipa speciosa) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the Poaceae family. Known for its distinct ornamental features and remarkable resilience, this species thrives in environments where most vegetation struggles to survive. It grows in dense clumps with slender, upright stems that display delicate, feathery inflorescences.

The native distribution of Stipa speciosa includes the arid and semi-arid regions of South America.
